Jillian's 30 Day Shred DVD

This is going to be a quick post because I've got things to do around the house that makes it look like I've been busy all day ;o)

Over at the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans they did a rave review of Jillian's 30 Day Shred so it made me curious to look into it myself. There are tons of videos on YouTube claiming that it really works and Amazon gave it four and a half stars. Not bad right? So off to the library I went to see if they carried it and they did so into my basket it went. Why not buy it you ask? I have a ton of workout videos that are unfortunately sitting in my DVD cabinet collecting dust. The most activity they see is when my 2 year old pulls them out and chews on them.

Anyways this morning while Elijah was at PreK and Liliana was playing in the bathtub (don't worry I could see her the entire time) I popped it into the DVD player and prepared to feel the burn and burn it did! Guess what? I loved it. Every. Single. Burn. I can't wait to do it again tomorrow. I'm not sure if it's the short circuits or what but it really kept me interested. Most workout videos lose me about half way through. I have to say I prefer classes at the gym only because I like the music that's played. It will be interesting to see how well it works for me. To bad I have to return it in a week.

However, the wonderful sisters over at the sisterhood are giving away 7 copies! How awesome is that? Now if I can only be one of those 7 winners it will be all good in the hood.

Oh and until I can figure out how to add a link without all the extras here it is:

Food Journal

2/3 cup Total Bran Cereal 1 pt
1 c strawberries 1 pt
1/2 c milk 1 pt
1 banana 2 pts
1 Ball Park FF All Beef hotdog 1 pt
1 slice Aunt Millies bread .5 pt
Sweet Potato 3 pts
Air popped popcorn~ 3 cups 1 pt
1/2 c Quacker oatmeal cereal 2 pts
Hot tea w/honey 1 pt
2 oatmeal pancakes 4 pts
2 pieces of turkey bacon 2 pts
1/2 strawberries .5
4 peanut butter cookies ?? Don't even want to know
1 cup of milk 2 pts

22 points plus whatever the cookies cost me.

I did a lot of mindless snacking today and I should have eaten more 0 point foods.

While at the grocery store the other day I was seriously craving a hot dog so I picked up a package of FF ones. They are not like the real thing. In a lot of ways they remind me of a veggie dog. Something I dread every summer when we eat at my FIL's house. I also have been mispointing (is that a word?) sweet potatoes. I'm not sure where I got 2 pts from. They're actually 3 pts for a cup. Did you know you can make popcorn in your microwave with a brown paper lunch bag and kernels? I tried it and ended up with a perfect snack while watching Twilight. Yeah if you haven't noticed I jump around alot. One reason I never kept a diary growing up. Writing what's running through my head is going to take awhile to get used to =) Anyways tomorrow is a new day and I'm all ready for this new challenge!

A New Shrinking Jeans Challenge

Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans

It's that time again. Time to lose those unwanted pounds to fit into a bathing suit. Personally I'd rather visit the gynocologist than try on bathing suits. I'm starting to think that phatdipping is in my future.

Unless I can kick butt at the Shrink Into Summer Challenge. This challenge will run from March 25 (today) to May 20. That gives me 8 weeks to lose this awful muffin top.

So here's my stats:

Starting weight at the beginning of this blog~ 159.5 pounds

Starting weight for this challenge~ 156 pounds

And a few of my goals:

I'd like to:

~Control my hunger. Instead of immediately turning to food to keep my hands and mouth busy I need to find something more productive to do.

~Be somewhere in the 140's by the end of this challenge.

~Make it to the gym at least 4 times a week.

~Eat more veggies and drink more water.

~Not eat above my alloted 22 Weight Watchers points.

Well it's the end of the day. Lost will be on in T minus 30 minutes. I smell a stinky diaper and it's not going to change itself. Oh and did I mention I baked peanut butter cookies. Nice way to start off, huh?

I'll leave you with this:

Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.-Mark Victor Hansen

Wednesday Weigh In

So I woke up this morning, stumbed to the bathroom, stepped on the scale, waited for the numbers to flash, rubbed the sleep out of my eyes to see better and I'm happy to say that I am down 2 lbs!

Starting 159.5 (3.13.09)

Ending 157.5 (3.18.09)

I can't say I'm surprised considering how much I've cut back on eating. Out of curiousity I looked to see how many points a meal from Burger King would cost me and it comes in at a whoopin' 22 points (a Whopper sandwich w/med onion rings) and that's if I didn't get dessert. Scary, huh?

Oh and a quick run down of what I ate yesterday (3.17.09)

Breakfast~Banana 2pts
Oatmeal 2 pts
Yogurt 1 pt
Snack~ Baby carrots 0 pts
1 tbsp salad dressing 1 pt
Lunch~ Sandwich 2 pts*
7 Kashi crackers 2 pts
Sweet potato 2 pts.
Snack~ I split a muffin from Caribou coffee with my daughter 5.5 pts (according to the nutrional
facts it's 11 points total and I had a whole one by myself the night before)
Dinner~ WW Smart Ones 4 pts
1 c broccoli 0 pts
Snack~ Bowl of cereal 4 pts
1 c of milk 1 pt

*I've been using Aunt Millie's Light Whole Grains because two slices only costs me 1 pt.

Total of 26 pts =( I forgot about the muffin or I wouldn't have had that bowl of cereal. As you can see I'm still doing the WW meals. I know they're high in sodium but they sure do help me stay within my points. Last night we had pasta and just 2 oz of it was 4 pts and it was a very small amount. I'm going to have to come up with some healthy meal ideas that I can get everyone to eat or else I'm going to have to turn into a short order cook.

Anyways I can't wait to see what new challenge the sisters over at The Sisiterhood of the Shrinking Jeans comes up with next.

True Confessions Monday

Over at The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans they have a True Confessions Monday and I thought I'd join in.

My Confessions:

2. It wasn't easy.

3. I'm surprised to find out that I enjoy running.

4. All of my jeans are to tight so I wear pajama pants all day.

5. I'm fighting a craving for Burger King.

6. I weigh myself every day, sometimes more.

7. It helps seeing the numbers go down.

8. I have a hard time with night time snacking, maybe I should go to bed at 8.

9. I wish I was funny like other people who's blogs I read.

10. I know it's going to be a long road to get this weight off. Much harder than it was putting it on.

What I've ate today:

Breakfast~ Oatmeal 2 pts
Yogurt 1 pt

Lunch~ Salad with free veggies 0 pts
3 slices of lunch meat 1 pt
1 tbsp lite ceaser dressing 1 pt
7 Kashi crackers 2 pts

*I'm not quite sure what the points were for the sloppy joe. The veggie meat and bread
